This article discusses structural functionalism as one of the main approaches in sociology that explains how society maintains order, stability, and continuity. This approach views society as a system composed of interrelated parts, each having a specific function for the whole social system. Through an analysis of the concept of social structure which includes values, norms, roles, statuses, and institutions the article explains how structure creates patterns of behavior and social mechanisms that enable individuals to interact in an orderly manner. In addition, the discussion of social functions shows the real contribution of each element in maintaining social integration and balance. Talcott Parsons’ theory with the AGIL scheme and Robert K. Merton’s concepts of manifest and latent functions serve as the main foundations for understanding the reciprocal relationship between structure and function. The article also highlights how the institutions of family, education, and law reflect this interconnection in social life practices. Using a literature study method, the article concludes that social equilibrium is created through the harmonious operation of structure and function that mutually reinforce each other in maintaining social order.
