The Implementation of Al-Mawardi's Political Thought in Public Policy and Social Development in Indonesia

Abstract

Al-Mawardi as one of the important figures in classical Islamic political thought, has made significant contributions in formulating theories about government, state administration, and relationship between leaders and the people. This paper aims to analyze the implementationof A-Mawardi’s political thought in public policy and social development in Indonesia. Through a qualitative method with a literature approach, this research explores the relevance of Al-Mawardi’s main concept, such as justice, legitimacy of power, and the role of leader, in the context of modern Indonesia government. The results show that several of Al-Mawardi’s principles, especially those related to public welfare and law enforcement, have been adapted and applied in public policies and social development programs in Indonesia. Thus, Al-Mawardi’s thoughts remain relevant and can be a source of inspiration in designing policies oriented towards people’s interests and social welfare.
