The development of tropical wheat is considered an alternative strategy to support food diversification and reduce Indonesia’s dependence on wheat imports. Selo and Gladagsari Districts in Boyolali Regency possess highland agroclimatic conditions that are potentially suitable for wheat farming development based on agroclimatic suitability. This study aimed to analyze farmers’ readiness toward the role of farmer groups, the interest and readiness of wheat farming, and the relationship between farmers’ readiness toward the role of farmer groups and the interest and readiness of wheat farming. The study employed a quantitative descriptive approach using a survey method. Research locations were determined purposively, while respondents were selected using simple random sampling, involving 96 farmers. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Spearman Rank correlation analysis with SPSS version 27. The results showed that farmers’ readiness toward the role of farmer groups was categorized as good with an index value of 3.72, while the interest and readiness for wheat farming were categorized as fairly good with an index value of 3.40. The Spearman Rank correlation test indicated a significant relationship between farmers’ readiness toward the role of farmer groups and the interest and readiness of wheat farming, with a correlation coefficient value of 0.430 and a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05). These findings indicate that the better the farmers’ readiness toward the role of farmer groups, the higher the interest and readiness of farmers in developing wheat farming.
